LEESBURG — James Wood surrendered three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to lose to Loudoun County in the Conference 21 quarterfinals Friday in a game played at Tuscarora High School.

The Colonels (12-8) extended their lead to 4-1 with two runs in the top of the seventh, but Loudoun County recorded four of its seven hits in the bottom of the frame. The winning run came on a single to left with two outs and a runner on second. A throw home resulted in a close play at the plate, but the ball was bobbled.

James Wood (10 hits) received two hits each from Canon Cochran and Noah Keller, who pitched the last four innings and took the loss after relieving Bryan Whitacre.
