Wyatt Potter has found plenty of success on the diamond in Winchester, and now he's set to take on a new challenge at the high school level.
James Wood named Potter — a Shenandoah University graduate — its new baseball coach on Friday, finalizing a search that started after Adrian Pullen retired in August. Pullen led the Colonels to four state tournament appearances during his six seasons at the helm.
"The James Wood Athletics Department is thrilled to welcome Coach Potter to the Colonel family," James Wood CSA Ethan Waters said via email on Friday. "His local roots, expertise in player development and passion for mentorship make him an ideal fit to lead our program into its next chapter."
Potter's local roots began during his playing career at Shenandoah University from 2016-2020, where he helped the Hornets make three NCAA Tournament Regional appearances.
Since then, he's worked as the co-owner and operator of Shenandoah Valley Baseball Ranch alongside Darrell Thompson, a Sherando High School and Shenandoah University graduate who pitches professionally for the Schaumburg Boomers in Illinois.
Potter also previously worked as the Winchester Royals' hitting coach from 2019-2024, served as a varsity assistant coach for Millbrook and worked as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator both at Shenandoah and Hood College.
