6a4427b3562ee.imageJames Wood junior outfielder Tyler Prusik was the only local player to earn All-State honors as part of the Virginia High School League Class 4 All-State baseball selections released Tuesday.

Prusik tied for second in the area in stolen bases (17), ranked ninth in batting average (.362, 25 for 69) and runs (20), and tallied 17 RBIs and a .483 on-base percentage for a James Wood team that went 16-8 and advanced to the Class 4 quarterfinals. This is his first All-State selection.

Atlee senior pitcher Chase Blumberg is the Player of the Year. In 53 innings, he went 9-0 with five saves, a 0.13 ERA, a 0.59 WHIP and 84 strikeouts. The right-hander will pitch for Virginia Military Institute next year. 

Woodgrove's Rusty Smith is the Coach of the Year after leading the Wolverines to the program's first state title. Woodgrove went 20-5 and defeated 2025 champions Atlee 2-1 in the Class 4 final. Woodgrove also beat James Wood 2-1 in the state quarterfinals.
