Millbrook senior pitcher Dylan Apfel was named the Northwestern District Class 4 Player of the Year as part of the 

Millbrook senior pitcher Dylan Apfel was named the Northwestern District Class 4 Player of the Year as part of the All-Northwestern District baseball selections released on Friday. 

Apfel finished the regular season with a 1.20 ERA, a 0.98 WHIP, 92 strikeouts and an 8-0 record across 58.1 innings. He also hit .404 with 22 RBIs, 18 runs and a .532 on-base percentage. 

Additionally, James Wood head coach Adrian Pullen was named Class 4 Northwestern District Coach of the Year. Pullen's Colonels are 15-6 and will meet Apfel's Pioneers in the Region 4D semifinals on Tuesday at James Wood's R. Charles Hott Field. 

Apfel was named to the All-Northwestern District First Team alongside teammates Carson Hammer at shortstop and Holden Faith in the outfield. Pitchers Parker Kerns and Nolan Landry, outfielder Tyler Prusik and third baseman Owen Neal represent the Colonels on the First Team, while pitcher Aaron DeHaven, first baseman Nick Usa and shortstop Asher Morrow earn recognition on the First Team for Sherando. 

Apfel also made the Second Team as a third baseman, and was joined by teammates JT Wagner at first base and Jaxen Carter at designated hitter. Others on the Second Team include James Wood outfielder Kaden McCullough and designated hitter Jake Woskobunik, Sherando pitcher Dean Lamb, catcher Braylon Clark and third baseman Landon Demko, and Handley outfielder Jake Swartz. 

The Judges' Chase Hobbs and Zy'Air Ford and the Pioneers' Trenton Conley are Honorable Mention selections. 

The Class 3 top awards both went to Warren County — Jesse Henry (Coach) and Frannie Shaffer (Player, senior outfielder).
