FRONT ROYAL — The James Wood High School baseball team went ahead 1-0 after the first inning and scored the game-deciding run in the top of the ninth to defeat Warren County 2-1 in extra innings on Thursday, improving to 7-2.
Owen Neal hit an RBI single with one out to drive in Tyler Day in the ninth. Jake Woskobunik hit an RBI single in the first to score Tyler Prusik. Warren County tied the game in the bottom of the seventh to stay alive.
Woskobunik started on the mound and tallied two strikeouts, three walks and two hits across four innings. Nolan Landry pitched two innings of relief, striking out two batters and allowing a run and a walk before Parker Kerns pitched the final three and struck out five batters while surrendering an earned run and three hits.
