WINCHESTER — James Wood scored three runs in the sixth to go up 9-4 on its way to a win over Meridian at Shenandoah University's Bridgeforth Stadium in the Battle of the Borders on Monday. This improved the Colonels to 5-0.
Tyler Prusik hit an RBI single to score Cole Ritter, Logan LaFollette drove in Owen Neal after Meridian committed an error on a fielder's choice and Kaden McCullough grounded out to score Prusik to tally the runs during the pivotal sixth inning.
Starting pitcher Nolan Landry recorded five strikeouts and allowed two earned runs and seven hits across six innings. Meridian scored three runs in the seventh, with Brady Smith coming in with two outs and runners on second and third and inducing a groundout to shortstop to end the game.
