WINCHESTER — The James Wood baseball team scored nine runs in the first inning, then scored eight while holding a one-run lead in the sixth inning for a 19-11 win over Skyline in the season opener for both teams at R. Charles Hott Field.
The Colonels led 11-1 after two innings, but Skyline scored three in the third, one in the fourth and five in the sixth to make it 11-10. James Wood had two hits in the inning that drove in three runs each — a triple by Tyler Prusik (3 for 4, two runs, four RBIs, walk) and a double by Owen Neal (3 for 4, two doubles, four runs, five RBIs, two walks).
Prusik closed the game out with 1.2 hitless innings, allowing one unearned run and two walks while striking out two batters.
The Colonels had 14 hits and 15 walks.
