After leading the Lynchburg University baseball team to a ranked win over the weekend, James Wood graduate Colin McGuire was named Old Dominion Athletic Conference's Pitcher of the Week on Monday.
McGuire, a 2023 James Wood graduate, helped the Hornets take down No. 15 Cortland on Saturday. In the 2-1 victory, McGuire took to the mound to start the sixth inning. Pitching the final four innings, he allowed just one hit and threw six strikeouts across 15 batters while also earning the save.
The right-handed McGuire — The Winchester Star's 2023 Baseball Player of the Year — finished his freshman campaign with a 4.02 ERA and 46 strikeouts in 62.2 innings pitched.
