WINCHESTER — Logan Bower's sacrifice fly snapped a scoreless tie in the bottom of the eighth as James Wood defeated Warren County on Tuesday.
Evan Lafollete drew a walk to start the eighth and moved up on John Copenhaver's bunt. After a walk to Kemper Omps and a single from Deuce Strosnider loaded the bases, Bower lofted the winning fly ball to left field as James Wood improved to 11-8.
The contest was mostly a pitcher's duel between the Colonels' Brock Whipkey and Warren County's Landon Shell, who both threw seven shutout innings. Whipkey allowed four hits and two walks with nine strikeouts. Shell pitched 7.1 innings, allowing three hits with four walks and two strikeouts. Bower allowed a walk and struck out two in an inning of relief to pick up the win.
