FRONT ROYAL — Dakota Orndorff went 3 for 3 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI, leading No. 4 James Wood to a 5-3 win over fifth-seeded Handley in the Northwestern District basetball tournament play-in game at Bing Crosby Stadium on Saturday.

James Wood now advances to face No. 1 Sherando tonight at 5 p.m. in the semifinals at Bing Crosby Stadium.

The Colonels (9-12) hit four consecutive doubles to take a 3-0 lead in the first inning off Handley starting pitcher Taylor Sandroni.

Handley (3-16) scored two runs in the third, but Wood added two runs in the sixth for the final margin.

KaCee Duggan went 2 for 3 with a double and scored a run, and Russell Repasky went 2 for 3 with a double for the Colonels.

Colin Benner (3-4) got the victory for Wood, throwing a complete game with four strikeouts.

Jacob Funkhouser and Sandroni both went 2 for 3 to lead the Judges.
