WINCHESTER — James Wood took advantage of four Handley errors to score eight unearned runs in a 9-3 Class 4 Northwestern District baseball victory at Bridgeforth Field on Monday.

The Colonels (2-2, 1-0 district) scored four unearned runs in the fifth to break open a 1-0 game. Jaden Ashby belted a two-run double and Colby Monroe added an RBI single in the outburst that made it 5-0.

The Judges (0-4, 0-2) broke open Jacob Bell’s no-hitter and rallied to within 5-3 with three runs in the fourth. Bell and Aden Payne shut down the Judges from there. Bell got a key double-play grounder in the sixth and Payne stranded two runners in scoring position in the seventh.

The Colonels tacked on a run in the sixth and three in the seventh.
