WINCHESTER — James Wood scored three runs in the fifth to break a 4-4 tie in the fifth inning, and the Colonels went on to defeat Spring Mills (W.Va.) on Monday.

The Colonels (3-3) — who defeated Clarke County 4-0 on Saturday — were led by Trenton Campbell (2 for 3), Joel Smith (two runs) and Ben Russo (1-2 with two RBIs). Brady Renner (1-2 record, 11/3 innings, one strikeout) and Mitch Craig (save, one inning) combined to hold Spring Mills hitless in relief. Campbell struck out five and allowed five hits in 42/3.

James Wood will host Millbrook next on Wednesday. The game was moved from its original date of Thursday.
