LURAY — The James Wood baseball team scored five runs in the top half of the first inning and never looked back in a 12-1 win over Luray that was shortened to five innings by the mercy rule Monday.

The Colonels (6-2, 3-1 Northwestern District) piled up 10 hits, with senior Dakota Orndorff going 2 for 3 with three RBIs, senior Noah Keller 1 for 1 with a 2-run home run and junior KaCee Duggan going 2 for 4 with two runs scored.

Senior starter Nick Goode went three innings and allowed just three hits and junior Bryan Whitacre came on in relief and did not allow a hit over the final two innings.
