WINCHESTER — Cam Eback hit a two-out, walk-off single in the bottom of the 10th inning to lift the James Wood baseball team to a 3-2 win over North Hagerstown (Md.) on Monday night at R. Charles Hott Field.
Eback drove in Brett Baker with his hit. Baker entered the game as a pinch-runner for Cameron Gross after he hit a leadoff single, then stole second with two outs and Eli Warren (who walked) at the plate. Eback moved to third on a passed ball.
Ben Russo (1-2) earned the win for James Wood (5-5) by pitching four shutout innings to end the game. He gave up three hits and struck out one. Brady Renner started and give up two runs (one earned), four walks and three strikeouts while striking out three in five innings.
Also for the Colonels, Sam Ellingsworth went 2 for 4 with an RBI and Colby Monroe went 2 for 3 with a walk.
