WINCHESTER — Warren County scored three runs in the top of the eighth inning to edge James Wood in a non-conference game at R. Charles Hott Field on Wednesday.

The Wildcats scored a pair of runs on an errant throw and added another on an RBI groundout.

James Wood (1-2) had a chance to win the game with the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the seventh. Ben Russo drove in the tying run with a double to center, but the Colonels had a runner thrown out at the plate and the score remained tied 5-5 after seven.

Tyler Matthews went 3 for 3 with a pair of RBIs, and Eli Warren went 2 for 4 for James Wood.

Russo (0-1, one inning) took the loss in relief.
